The Fair Chance team believes in making a difference.
We have worked successfully with students with special needs for many years and believe in making a difference.

We have some amazing student volunteers that we have worked with for many years. These young men and women are gifted with kindness and compassion, we have taught and nurtured them to take care of our special students and watched them grow. We respect and admire our volunteers, and we see the respect and admiration they have for our students. These volunteers will engage our students in conversations, socialize and hangout with them, take them out in the community, model age-appropriate behaviors, and have fun with them. Our volunteers and are as compassionate as our staff!!


Shirin Kamal

Shirin Kamal:
Founder & Managing Director

Shirin Kamal has a master's degree in business administration (MBA) and a bachelor's degree in engineering. In addition to that, she holds California Teaching Credentials in Special Ed. She has been involved with the California Education system for more than 15 years.

Shirin has successfully managed several Special Education programs from elementary to high school levels. She has led autism programs and has helped students with ADHD/ADD, learning disabilities, and Asperger's Syndrome achieve remarkable academic success. Shirin believes that every child is gifted and with the right coaching, he or she can be instilled with confidence to reach his or her full potential.

Shirin has a proven track record of success in her field. Her students have shown tremendous growth. She has developed this state-of-the-art curriculum after years of research and experience in this field. She has used all the right interventions, techniques, and strategies. She strongly believes in the Fair Chance model and guarantees student success.

Diane Mazaroff

Diane Mazaroff:  Co-Founder & Director of Operations

Diane is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science. She comes from a family of educators and was instilled with the love of education from an early age. Diane is a firm believer that every child can learn and excel if provided with the right tools, environment, guidance, and encouragement. 

She has successfully worked in the field of special education for last seven  years and is a strong advocate of equal educational and enrichment opportunities for all students. She firmly believes that every individual can develop appropriate social and communication skills when given the right learning environment and opportunity. She is confident in the model and curriculum of the Fair Chance program.

James Frost

James Frost has been involved with students with special needs for over ten years. He brings in a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and experience to our Fair Chance program. James has worked as the moderate/intensive special day class teacher at Dublin High in the Dublin Unified School District.

Maria Gomez

Maria Gomez

Maria has been working for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District since 2013. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Maria is a Registered Behavior Technician as well as trained and certified in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She is also working on getting her Master’s degree in Special Education.

Maria is a caring professional with a genuine interest in Education. She likes to identify the needs of each student and make the appropriate accommodations to see them thrive.

She enjoys helping students by teaching them the necessary skills, especially the ones that are struggling with social interactions.

Maria is a patient, kind and outgoing person who likes working with children and loves to help each student to explore their interest and develop their talents.

Mechelle Randisi

Mechelle has been working for students in the Special Day Class for eleven years. Three years for Tracy Unified School District and eight years for San Ramon Valley School District. Mechelle is kind, loving, dedicated and compassionate paraprofessional. She embraces the different abilities of her students  and enjoys watching their accomplishments and growth.

Mechelle enjoys working at Fair Chance. She believes that our students with special needs should have the opportunities to make friends and hang out with them in a non-judgmental environment.

Lourdes Abregano

Lourdes has been working for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District for the last seven years. Lourdes is a kind, compassionate, dedicated, loving, friendly, people-centered, and respectful. Lourdes believes that our students with special needs should be given the same opportunities to socialize and make friends that their general education peers do.
